A note on integral points on elliptic curves par
We investigate a problem considered by Zagier and Elkies, of finding large integral points on elliptic curves. By writing down a generic polynomial solution and equating coefficients, we are led to suspect four extremal cases that still might have nondegenerate solutions. Each of these cases gives rise to a polynomial system of equations, the first being solved by Elkies in 1988 using the resul...
متن کاملA Note on the Shadowing Lemma and Symmetric Periodic Points
A standard use of shadowing lemmas in dynamical systems theory is to prove density of periodic points. When there is symmetry present it is natural to investigate the density of periodic points of a given symmetry. We obtain several results in this direction. As an application, we prove a result about compact group extensions of hyperbolic and nonuniformly hyperbolic dynamical systems.
متن کاملA note on quasi irresolute topological groups
In this study, we investigate the further properties of quasi irresolute topological groups defined in [20]. We show that if a group homomorphism f between quasi irresolute topological groups is irresolute at $e_G$, then $f$ is irresolute on $G$. Later we prove that in a semi-connected quasi irresolute topological group $(G,*,tau )$, if $V$ is any symmetric semi-open neighborhood of $e_G$, then...
متن کاملA renormalization operator for 1D maps under quasi-periodic perturbations
This paper concerns with the reducibility loss of (periodic) invariant curves of quasi-periodically forced one dimensional maps and its relationship with the renormalization operator. Let gα be a one-parametric family of one dimensional maps with a cascade of period doubling bifurcations. Between each of these bifurcations, there exists a parameter value αn such that gαn has a superstable perio...
متن کاملEquilibrium Quasi-periodic Configurations with Resonant Frequencies in Quasi-periodic Media Ii: Kam Theory
We develop an a-posteriori KAM theory for the equilibrium equations for quasi-periodic solutions in a quasi-periodic Frenkel-Kontorova model when the frequency of the solutions resonates with the frequencies of the substratum. The KAM theory we develop is very different both in the methods and in the conclusions from the more customary KAM theory for Hamiltonian systems or from the KAM theory i...
